Breaking bad news in pediatrics
Abstract
This integrative literature review investigates the delivery of bad news in pediatrics. Scientific database search included studies published between 2015 and 2022, which indicate that bad news should be disclosed in an empathetic, objective and frank manner, involving both the child and their caregiver, but partial and adapted to the child’s understanding or maturity. Finally, this study brings suggestions and scientific evidence about delivering bad news in pediatrics, contributing to further enrich knowledge
on the subject, especially for the healthcare professionals who deal directly with this context.
