Ethical guidelines in forensic expertise practice
Abstract
This research article discusses peculiar aspects to forensic expertise exercise, which, often faces situations in which there is a contrast between professional and ethical principles. Through the application of a questionnaire to the forensic experts from the Crime Sciences Institute of Federal District Civil Police, the present study aimed to verify the existence of ethical guidelines adopted by these professionals, and to examine them with the intention of generating bioethical reflections and to propose adjustments considered necessary. The study concluded that there is dissatisfaction among professionals about the received ethical guidelines, as well as negative opinions about the ethical approach of their peers. It also concluded that forensic experts need specific ethical references for forensic practice, particularly when dealing with the corpse and its relatives.Keywords:
