Human dignity versus transhumanism
Abstract
This article proposes a reflection on human dignity in the face of transhumanism, a current that defends
the idea of human enhacement through the use of biotechnologies. Even if said improvement means
transcending the threshold of humanity to reach a stage of posthumanity, in which framework the
notion of posthuman dignity, as advocated by transhumanism, could have presence and meaning.
This will be answered negatively, based on the debate between different authors who highlight the
centrality of the human person, with emphasis on the perspective of justice and gift.
