Artificial intelligence, privacy, and data protection in healthcare

Authors

Abstract

The digital transition, particularly with regard to artificial intelligence, is shaping relationships among
individuals and communities across a wide range of fields. This article aims to address, in a structured and
systematic manner, cybersecurity as it relates to the preservation of civilizational values, such as privacy
and the protection of personal health data, in the context of the digital transformation of contemporary
societies. The article focuses primarily on the hypothesis that clear strategies for protecting health data
are needed, given their particularly sensitive nature, including their access, storage, and sharing through
modern digital systems. The authors suggest implementing creative measures that employ AI to assess
privacy impacts during the design, development, acquisition, and implementation of digital systems.
Requiring privacy impact studies or assessments would be an excellent tool for preventing disruptive
cyber phenomena.
