Patient knowledge about assisted reproductive techniques in Brazil
Abstract
This study aimed to create and validate a questionnaire to evaluate the knowledge of patients
regarding assisted reproduction norms by the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine. Using a modified
Delphi method, the questionnaire was reviewed by judges from the Technical Chamber of Assisted
Reproduction of the Council in two rounds, ensuring clarity and relevance. After adjustments and
80% consensus, the pre-test was conducted with patients under treatment. The questionnaire was
effective in measuring patient knowledge level, with potential for improving communication between
physicians and patients. This process reinforces the application of bioethical principles, such as
autonomy and beneficence, as they directly impact informed decision making by patients and
contributes to the alignment with Federal Council of Medicine norms.
