Conceptions of the principle of non-maleficence and its relations with prudence

Abstract

The conceptual origin of non-maleficence, one of the bioethics’ principles of principialism may be related to prudence, from ancient 8mes to the contemporary period. Through the review of the literature on ethics, we studied the origins and scope of the non-maleficence concept. its relationship with the other three
principles - autonomy, beneficence and justice - Was also analyzed and the possible conflicts between them that might require in any given situation, the ranking or priority of one over another. It is clear In the text that contemporary authors consider the principle of non-maleficence as the foundation of, firstly, not undermining its primacy because it is the principle that expresses public good, and it may be above the autonomy of individuals.
